The Nuclear Lamp is a table lamp inspired by the Soviet era mosaic “Blacksmiths of Modernity” from the Institute of Nuclear Research in Kyiv, Ukraine. Through a series of exploration in color and composition, I have designed a lamp to reference the mosaic on multiple levels. The curved form directly references the atomic rings depicted in the mosaic. The red color and reflecting light represent the nuclear and electricity centered motif.
